Jalon Valley - Costa Blanca North
The Area
The beautiful region of the Jalon Valley is situated in the Costa Blanca North (equidistant of Alicante and Valencia Airports which are each one hour away) and comprises of six mountain villages: Alcalalí; Benichembla; Castell de Castells; Lliber; Murla; Parcent and the town of Jalon.
Natural Outstanding Beauty
This charmingly traditional and breathtakingly scenic region, with its backdrop of pine and olive trees, combined with orange groves and vineyards, boasts some of the most outstanding scenery in Spain. It has been regarded as one of the most beautiful areas of Spain with many of its locations having been declared as areas of natural outstanding beauty by the local Government. With each season comes a diverse change in colour – February and March for example bringing the almond blossom with its astounding cover of pink and white.
The Valley
The valley is of course also well known as a wine region producing some first-rate wines including the fine sweet white Moscatel, the full bodied reds and subtle, smooth rose wines. Its famous bodegas are well worth a visit, giving you the opportunity to try before you buy.
The Sea
The Jalon Valley is just a short drive (the closest being 20 minutes away) from the striking white sandy beaches of Javea, Moraira, Calpe, Altea and Denia. The Jalon Valley is extremely popular with people who prefer the harmony, serenity and calm of the valley and its surroundings, whilst those who enjoy the hustle and bustle can still find this within very each reach.
Shopping and Bars
The Jalon Valley offers some great shopping and has an array of fantastic bars and restaurants. It’s a delightful and charming place to witness the traditions and local culture of the real Spain! The famous Jalon rastro is held each Saturday alongside the dry river bed, whilst the local market with its array of fresh fruit and veg is held in the main square every Tuesday. The Valley also has a fascinating and exciting local cuisine and is famous for its sausages, paella and pastries.
